AnnaKate Pearson (Harp) completed a Masters in Harp performance at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where she gained a BA(Hons) and Postgraduate Diploma in Performance. Through her years at the RSAMD she studied solo, chamber and orchestral repertoire under her tutor Karen Vaughan (co-principal of the LSO). She played with all the RSAMD’s orchestras throughout the six years, four years as principal harp, including tours around Britain and the RSNO Scottish Proms. She has been involved in master classes with distinguished harpists such as Kathleen Bride, Frances Kelly and Natalia Sheymeyeva.
Her chamber music performances include a trio recital in St.Andrew’s University, 2006. She has also been involved with 'Side-by Side Concerts' with the Hebrides Ensemble in Berio's Folk Songs and various new compositions.
She has played with orchestras in and around Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Cumbria and Liverpool including playing with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Scottish Opera Orchestra. Through her orchestral experience she has performed in many different venues including the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Edinburgh Festival theatre and Glasgow Theatre Royal.
Since 1999 AnnaKate has been playing regularly at weddings and functions in various locations in and around Cumbria and Scotland, including Lancaster's Ashton Memorial which hosted a Cancer Care Charity Evening in the Presence of Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
Jo Ashcroft (Flute) completed a BMus (Hons) degree in performance at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama in Glasgow, studying with Alison Mitchell. In 2008/09 she also studied for a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance at the RSAMD with Alison Mitchell and Katherine Bryan. Jo was awarded her Diploma with Distinction, and also received the John MacGregor Flute Prize at the RSAMD for 2008/09.
Jo is a keen chamber musician. As a founder member of flute quartet Flutes en Route, Jo received the RSAMD Governors’ First Prize for chamber music in 2008, and played for His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales at St James’ Palace. With this ensemble she also performs regularly for Yehudi Menuhin’s Live Music Now scheme in recitals, community performances and education workshops. Jo also plays in a duo capacity with percussionist Calum Huggan in Flercussion and with pianist Chris Baxter, and is a member of the Epsilon Ensemble wind quintet.
As a soloist, Jo has given concerto performances of the Chaminade Concertino for flute and orchestra, Philip Sparke’s ‘A Lindisfarne Rhapsody’ for flute and wind orchestra and the Mozart Concerto for flute and orchestra in D major.
Jo has varied interests in performance, ranging from Baroque performance on 18th century flute to contemporary chamber music.
She freelances regularly with orchestras and ensembles in Scotland, including the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
